Poem – The guns have gone off

Poppy in a wheat field -The Royal British Legion – http://media.britishlegion.org.uk/Media/2578/poppy_in_wheat_field_1170x461.jpg

The guns have gone off:

Mud Squelching as we hit the floor,

Squelching, squelching, squelching as we trudge some more,

More people ready to attack,

Whilst others sleep in a shack.

Bloodthirsty weapons quenching their thirst,

Bullets rushing by, many get hurt,

Men are missing their old folk,

But thinking of them restores there hope.

Our minds are tired and full of fear,

Sometimes I just want to disappear,

The Gas! They squeal form the top of their throat.

Sometimes I fell as though I’m stuck in a boat,

A boat that is crossing the sea for war,

Some men just want to fight more.

BANG! BANG! BANG! The guns have gone off.

People fall dead from a gunshot.

There body’s lie there finally at peace,

Being sent away for the goodbye they need,

For they have been fighting from the start,

Because of one thing in their body, their heart.
